An excellent return to form with some of the creepiest and darkest episodes yet.
Doom Coalition 1 gives Liv a much needed shot of adrenaline as she fits quite nicely by the Doctor’s side and Helen perfectly balances Liv’s seriousness with her innocence and excitement.
Our overarching threat here is The Eleven, a renegade Time Lord with all of his previous incarnations colliding at once which gives us some amazing eerie audio work when he’s used. Speaking of which he’s no Master and isn’t utilised in the same way which graciously means that he’s used sparingly and each episode acts as a small pit stop along the way to our larger plot which is also utilised in a similar fashion to the original Eighth Doctor Adventures. This is merely build up to the larger story to come so for now it’s nice to enjoy the mad fun before it gets too hectic.
Definitely recommend this with The Red Lady being my favourite episode yet!
9/10
