What a weird little tale. I think what makes this so weird is that the first episode does introduce the concept for this story however it’s tonally standalone in comparison to the three parter that happens afterwards. With four episodes in this set that’s more than uneven.
The idea that most of this series is built on us not knowing something that it really doesn’t try to hide is a bit of a let down as well however River serves as a new companion of sorts that distract from this point thankfully. Definitely in her element at this point so I was happy to see her appear so frequently.
The episodes themselves are of top tier still with the treasure hunting theme working in its favour and kept me fully onboard even through to the end.
Liv and Helen are better than ever, slotting their characteristics perfectly into each scenario.
Whilst this may come of as more of the same with a genre twist here and there it still does enough to hook me from one moment to the next and provides enough of an excuse to have one final story before moving on.
8/10
