Now that the Doctor is in the swing of things this is less of a expository issue and more of a action one.

It does well enough to position the Doctor in an interesting position but the character rarely get a chance to chat or breath unfortunately.

It’s not like I don’t know why as this is just a small chapter in a magazine. The comic is the enticement and the magazine itself is the tag along so expect to see the author’s priorities focus mainly on condensing this to add more trivial “did you know” pages.

A shame too as a full 30 page issue of each chapter would’ve been perfect for this but instead I see myself having to subscribe to this for a few months just to be in the loop about where the Ninth Doctor fits into this whole thing.

With that aside, Vampires aren’t new to Doctor Who but it’s nice to see that the writers and artists are making full use out of them. Their ship designs are gorgeous and their actual character designs have been quite nice to look at so far.

In the end this is an entertaining continuation of the previous issue however waiting a month for something that ends in a near similar cliffhanger to the first issue makes this feel slightly insulting. Especially if you’re a fan of this Doctor and were excited to see his tale unfold.

7/10
